In a series of player profiles, Hoop Journal sat down with Senior Xavier Nieves who plays the off guard and swingman position, but usually has the ball in his hands when the Bulldogs need a big play! DePaul Beats Wayne Valley 61-52!

Wayne……….Junior Davon Jacobs(right) scored 24 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and Sophomore Joshua Marquez(bottom right) scored 15 points, dished out 9 dimes and had 5 steals to lead DePaul to a 61-52 win over Wayne Valley! After a 15-13 lead at the end of the 1st, DePaul took over the flow in the 2nd quarter, holding Wayne Valley to 4 points in the quarter to take a 28-17 halftime lead! The Spartans never let Valley get closer than 10 the rest of the way!Junior Mas Aronson scored 7 for DePaul and Freshman Juwann Carter came off the bench to add 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, a block and an assist!  Junior Nafee Lighty played strong defensively blocking 5 shots! Wayne Valley was led by Senior Andrew Herasimtschuk with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Junior James Grevenitz came off the bench to score 12 points, all in the 2nd half!

NOTES: DePaul is a young team that looks to be in good hands for the future! Their starting 5 are all underclassmen and Freshmans Carter(right) and  Kiy Hester(left) both look to have big futures! Hester is averaging double figures!
