PASSAIC COUNTY TOURNAMENT: #4 WAYNE VALLEY HOLDS ON TO DEFEAT #1 WAYNE HILLS 47-44!

004Paterson,N.J… Wayne Valley jumped on Wayne Hills in the 1st half of the Passaic County Semifinal and held on to pull off a 47-44 upset win!

Wayne Valley came out on fire taking a 9-0 lead to start the contest! Wayne Hills was caught off balanced and never could get itself together in the half, scoring only 9 points and falling behind 26-9 at the end of the stanza! Senior Nick Goodwin(pictured) scored 10 of his 17 points in the 1st half to lead the way! Wayne Hills got it’s footing to start the 3rd quarter as Senior Dorian Hodge made two early buckets and Hills put pressure defense on Valley to close the gap to 34-24 to end the 3rd! Wayne Hills again made a run in the 4th to close the gap! Goodwin’s two free throws gave Valley a 44-40 lead and after Junior Justin Hodge made two free throws to cut the lead to 44-42 Senior Nick Giuliano made a layup to again give Valley a four point lead! Hodge again made two free throws to cut the lead to two and after Valley made one of two free throws Hills had two opportunities to tie the game but both shots fell off! Goodwin also grabbed 9 rebounds in the game and Giuliano added 9 points! Justin Hodge led Hills with 16 points and Dorian Hodge added 12! Valley will now face Eastside at Wayne Valley at noon next Saturday for the Passaic County “Chip”!
