PASSAIC COUNTY TOURNAMENT: WAYNE HILLS VS KENNEDY IN THE FINALS!
Kennedy H.S. Paterson, N.J… Just the way it was planned! All year long Kennedy and Wayne Hills were the favorites to reach the Passaic County Finals! Neither disappointed as they will face each other next Saturday February 2
4th noon at Wayne Valley! WAYNE HILLS 57 WAYNE VALLEY 40
Wayne Hills came out having lost twice already to Valley! None of it matter as Hills took a 15-7 1st quarter lead and never relinquished it! Belli was great in scoring 22 points, dishing out 6 assists with 3 steals, but Hills domination down low proved the difference! Senior Jason Modak(pic left) scored 10 points and pulled down 10 rebounds with 4 steals and Senior Joe Cerrone(pic right) scored 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds as Hills only allowed one shot a possession and Valley’s cold shooting didn’t help! Senior Justin Wills scored 12 points for Hills! Senior A.J. Tedesco was the lone bright spot for Valley with 17 points, including 5 “triples”!
KENNEDY 66 PASSAIC COUNTY TECH 55
Kennedy had four players in double figures as Senior Jamir Lattimore scored 14 points, Senior Jaylen Colon had 13 points, Junior Avant’e Gilbert(pictured) added 11 points with 10 rebounds and Sophomore Deishon Harrison had 10 points as Kennedy defeated Passaic County Tech 66-55! Kennedy led the whole way, but down 49-34 to start the 4th, Tech made a run as Senior Anthony Smith Jr and Senior Nile Wade knocked down back to back “triples” and Josh Combs bucket cut the lead to 49-42 early in the 4th, but a Lattimore layup, a Gilbert finish and a bucket by Harrison doused the flame and Kennedy took back control! Smith Jr finished with 16 points and Wade added 15 for Tech!
