PATERSON EASTSIDE CHAMPS OF JINGLE BELLS JUBILEE HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT!!!
Eastside HS, Paterson,NJ… Junior Asem Johnson scored 27 points and Junior Marquel Sheffield had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Eastside to the Jingle Bells Jubilee Holiday Tournament Championship sponsored by the Playaz Basketball Club with a 64-57 win over Hudson Catholic! Eastside was down 28-25 at the half but came out in the second half and picked up the defensive intensity and controlled the glass to take control of the game! Senior Ahmad Dauda added 12 points and 9 rebounds for Eastside. Junior Shakur Juiston was in foul trouble but still managed 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists as it was a total team effort! Hudson Catholic was led by Senior J.R. Lynch with 20 points and Junior Nassir Barrino with 15 points! The venue was changed from the Paterson Science Of Technology to Eastside due to water leakage on the floor! Johnson was the Tournament’s MVP!
TEANECK 61 GILL ST. BERNARD 54
Junior M.J. Richardson came off the bench to hit 5″triples” and score 20 points to lead Teaneck to a 61-54 win over GillSt. Bernard to take 3rd place in the Jingle Bells Tournament! Senior Corrie Brown scored 13 points and Junior Ceasar DeJesus added 11 points as the Highwaymen had to overcome the play of Sophomore Tyus Battle who score 26 points, including 8 in a row to help tie the game late in the 4th! Junior J.M. Mea added 10 points for Gill! Freshman point guard Leondre Washington,one of the smallest players on the floor grabbed 9 rebounds and 3 steals for Teaneck!
Newark Tech had four players score in double figures as they cruised past DePaul 66-49! Newark Tech led 39-13 at the half and never looked back! Sophomore Mustafa Lawrence scored 14 points, Junior Jordan Zagadou scored 12 points and Freshman R.J. Cole and Junior Jerod Page each chipped in 10 points! DePaul was led by Senior Juwuan Carter with 17 points and 11 rebounds and Junior Debon Bright with 14 points!
