PLAYAZ FREEDOM FIGHTERS RESULTS: HUDSON CATHOLIC, ROSELLE CATHOLIC, ST.BENEDICTS AND BLAIR ACADEMY WIN
Paterson,NJ……..The Playaz sponsored Freedom Fighters Showcase featured some of the best schools in the State and when all was said and done Hudson Catholic, Roselle Catholic, St. Benedicts and Blair Academy came away with victories!
HUDSON CATHOLIC 76 KENNEDY 36
This game was decided in the first quarter as Hudson Catholic took a 19-4 lead at the end of the stanza and never looked back in manhandling Kennedy 76-36! Freshman Jahvon Quinerly(second from right) scored 11 of his 16 points in the 1st half and Senior Nassir Barrino(far right) scored 16 points, Senior Sammy Friday(second fom left) scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Senior Marion Williams chipped in 13 points with 4 assists as the Hawks pretty much anything they wanted in the contest! Kennedy struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the 1st half, scoring only 12 points! Kennedy Junior Alphonso Gee(left) finally found a stroke in the as he scored 16 of his 21 points in the 2nd half! But it was too little, too late!
ROSELLE CATHOLIC 80 NEWARK TECH 56
Kentucky commit Isaiah Briscoe(left) made his final Highschool appearance in the Paterson area as Roselle Catholic defeated Newark Tech 80-56! The dynamic guard scored 27 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 6 assists in Roselle Catholic’s win! Tech fought hard, trailing 35-25 at the half but Roselle Catholic slowly pulled away in the 2nd half! South Carolina commit Chris Silva scored 11 points with 8 rebounds and Roselle Catholic had ten players score in the game! 6’9 Freshman stud Nazreon Reid came off the bench to score 8 points with 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots! Senior Jordan Zagadou(middle) led Tech with 17 points and Junior Mustafa Lawrence(right) added 14 points with 5 steals!
ST. BENEDICTS 55 NEWARK EASTSIDE 43
Sophomore Trevon Duval scored 10 of his 22 points in the 4th quarter as St. Benedicts held off a determined Newark Eastside team 55-43! Sophomore Nate Pierre-Louis added 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds and Junior Arnaldo Toro chipped in 11 points! Senior Taj Price led Newark Eastside with 17 points and Jibreel Ahmad added 9 points! Newark Eastside had cut Benedicts lead to 37-33, but the 4th was when Duval took control
BLAIR ACADEMY 44 PATERSON EASTSIDE 43
Notre Dame commit Elijah Burns hit two free throws with 27.3 seconds and it proved to be the winning points as Blair Academy got away with a slim 44-43 win over Paterson Eastside! Burns(right) finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds in the hotly contested game! Eastside was led by Senior Asem Johnson (left)with 18 points and Senior Shakur Juiston who scored 11 points, pulled down 8 rebounds and blocked 4 shots! Eastside took a 37-32 lead into the 4th quarter but Blair was relentless in the quarter but did not gtake the lead until Burns free throws! The Ghosts got off a last second shot that didn’t go!
