PLAYAZ SPRING FLING AFTER EFFECT!
The 15th year of the Playaz Basketball Club Spring Fling event brought memorable games and moments!
The highlight game was definitely the Semifinal contest between the Playaz 16U and Team Rio! It probably should have been the final, but that didn’t stop the game from being played at a high level! The Playaz were led by Jalen Carey, Tavon Jones(right), Ja’Quaye James and Justin Winston, while Rio was led by Scottie Lewis(mid right)), Bryan Antoine, Jordan McKoy and Elijah McCallister ! Rio came away with a 47-46 victory but each squad is primed to have big summers on the AAU circuit! As usual, Team Takeover from D.C. brought a tough squad to the event in their 15U team that won the “Chip”! Josh Gordon and Josh Watts especially had strong weekends for Takeover! New England Playaz and Team Melo brought good teams at 16U and 17U to the event! The host Playaz squads were good and very competitive as the 17U EYBL squad is deep, especially at the guard spot and seems geared to make some noise on the Nike circuit, the 16U team is a Nationally ranked squad and the 15U team will be playing on Sunday’s (Chip Day) in most Tournaments! The highlight of the weekend was the appearance of Travon Duval(top picture) with We R 1! The former Playaz baller was special and proved why he is the #1 ranked point guard in his class as in one game he hit a buzzer beater and he showed time and time again his high level ability! The play of the New York Rens Hamidou Diallo(bottom right) was also special as he displayed all his tools in the Rens 17U Spring Fling “Chip”! The shooting guard has a big upside and it looks as though UConn is the front runner for the athletic player!
