PLAYAZ SPRING FLING RESULTS: PLAYAZ 17’S AND NEW HEIGHTS 15’S CAPTURE “CHIPS”!

Kennedy HS, Paterson,NJ…. In a weekend of high level AAU action, the Playaz Basketball Club’s Annual Spring Fling Tournament resulted in “CHIPS” for the Playaz 17 Gold team and New Heights 15’s!

   The Playaz Gold team showed throughout the weekend that they will be a tough out in the competitive Nike sponsored EYBL AAU circuit this season as they were impresssive on their way to the Playaz Spring Fling Tournament Championship! The Playaz captured the Chip by defeating D.C.’s Team Takeover 79-65! Rivals #19 ranked Isaiah Briscoe and # 28 ranked Moustapha Diagne showed all week why both are so highly touted! Briscoe scored 19 points in the Championship game and Diagne added 18 and dominated the low post! They offset the 19 points, including 5″triples” scored by Takeover guard Marcus Adkinson! The Playaz had no problem putting points on the board all weekend as they scored over 70 in every contest! Shakur Juiston, Temple Gibbs, Elijah Cain, Alex Thomas, Myles Powell, Damien Rance and Travon Duval all had their moments to showcase their talents and none disappointed!

  This hotly contested game came down to a layup by New Height’s Sid Wilson with 11 seconds on the clock for what proved to be the game winner! Wilson finished with 15 points! Tournament MVP Nyonty Wisseh also scored 15 in the game! The Playaz were led by Mason Toye with 17 points and Marcus McClary added 15! 

 

 

NOTES:  The Playaz 16 team just missed beating Team Takeover in a Semifinal contest! Jamir Harris and Jagan Moseley spearheaded the team all weekend as their squad played up in the Tournament! Leondre Washington also had a strong weekend and Caleb Bishop was a force down low, specifically on the defensive end ! The Paterson Playaz 17’s team also had their shot at Team Takeover and fell in overtime! Nassir Barrino, Jevon Rawls and Sammy Friday played well for Paterson!
