QUIETLY, DEPAUL’S DEBON BRIGHT IS HAVING SOME YEAR!

014 DePaul Catholic is not having the type of season they are accustomed to having, but it’s not because of the play of Senior Debon Bright! Last year Bright played behind Passaic County Player Of the Year Juwuan Carter and was primarily a role player who filled a need and did his job as Carter’s secondary guy! This year with an inexperienced group he has had to take on a greater responsibility and leadership role! While DePaul is struggling no fault can fall on the 6’1 Bright! He is averaging 21 points a game, 5 rebounds and 2 assists a contest and has had big scoring games despite double teams with highs of 37, 33 and 32 points! Any other year Bright would be a given as a candidate for player of the year but due to his teams struggles he is being overlooked for the type of season he is having! Consider that he has played a lot of time on the court with three Freshman and a Junior and while the future is looking up for DePaul these players are still going through growing pains and as a Senior Debon has to be the studying force for this squad! Bright should not be overlooked in the way he has played the game this year and his play should have College scouts keeping an eye on him! The second half of the Season is underway and with the Passaic County Tournament also in full effect the focus will be squarely on Bright to lead DePaul the rest of the way!
