014Paterson,N.J…… The Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament sponsored by Kennedy H.S. and Coach Jim Ring featured seven games throughout Sunday and saw Seton Hall Prep, Passaic Valley, Wayne Valley, Pascack Hills, Pascack Valley, Lyndhurst and North Bergen all get victories!

 

 

                                                                               SETON HALL PREP  93     KENNEDY  56

 

Junior T.J. Gibbs(pictured), considered one of the best guards in the country and being heavily recruited by high major Colleges had a workman like performance in Seton Hall Prep’s 93-56 blowout over Kennedy! Gibb’s scored 23 points, dished out 7 assists, pulled down 6 rebounds with 3 steals! Senior Doug Gertner added 16 points and Junior Zach Keller chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds! After a 21-15 Prep lead at the end of the 1st quarter, the Pirates outscored Kennedy 26-14 to lead at the half 47-29! Senior Jevon Rawls led Kennedy with 18 points while Senior Jailani Morris and Junior Alphonso Gee scored 10 points apiece!

 

 

                                                                                 PASCACK VALLEY  85     FORT LEE  73

   Pascack Valley displayed their up and coming young players in a 85-73 win over Fort Lee! Pascack Valley’s Sophomore trio of Legend Dominguez, Matt Vassal and Noah Baumgarten combined for 54 points in the close contest! Dominguez(right) scored 19 points, including 2″triples”, Vasel(left) made 5″triples” enroute to his 19 points and Baumgarten added 16 points and 7 rebounds off the bench! The future looks bright for Coiach coleman and his Pascack Valley crew! Fort Lee was led by Senior Paul Leale with 26 points and Senior Jordan Goris with 19 points

 

 

 

 

 

                                          PASCACK HILLS  65          PASSAIC COUNTY TECH  63018

Sophomore Jason Shill hit a three pointer with 12 seconds left and Junior Evan Schumer(right) hit 7″triples” and scored 27 points to defeat Passaic County Tech 65-63! Junior Eric Alford-Johnson put back gave Tech a 63-61 lead, but Shill’s shot made it 64-63 and after another free throw by Hills, Tech’s last shot came up short! Senior Tyree Frazier led P.C.T. with 15 points, while Junior Yohanly Ortiz scored all 14 of his points in the second half for Tech! Freshman Lamar Johnson hit 4 threes for 12 points and Junior Xavier Hilbert had 11 points! Hill’s Senior Josh Soiro scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Senior Zach Bernstein added 10 points! Shill finished with 7!

Junior Jihad Wright scored 18 points and Senior Shawn Ulrich had a double-double with 11 rebounds, but it was017 the play of Senior guard Zach Mazalewski and Sophomore Tito Ramirez that propelled Passaic Valley to a 56-43 win over Dumont! Mazalewski(left) scored 14 points with 5 rebounds and hit a couple big shots late, while Ramirez(right) only had 3 points but controlled the game from start to finish at the point as he dished out 8 assists and had 3 steals! 6’9 Roland Romano was a problem for P.V. as he finished with 24 points and pulled down 9 rebounds for Dumont!

Senior Brandon Karlok(right) scored 15 points and Senior Mark Estevez(left) added 13 points as Lyndhurst overcame a slow start to defeat Emerson 40-31! Junior Daniel Auriemma led Emerson with 11 points!

Despite a 19 point, 12 rebound game from Freshman Armoni Sexton Paterson Charter fell to North Bergen 61-56! Senior Muntasir Saleh(right) led North Bergen with 14 points and  Junior Gabriel Munoz added 13 points and Kayton Darley chipped in 10 points!
