047The Tournament Of Champions event starts Wednesday at 5:30pm when surprising Bergenfield takes on Paulsboro and Newark Tech goes against Paterson Eastside at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River!

Bergenfield vs Paulsboro at 5:30pm–   The Cinderella season of Bergenfield continues as they face an experienced and talented Paulsboro team! Bergenfield has rode the play of Junior Jovani Haskins and his Senior brother D.J. Haskins! The duo combined for 46 points and 41 rebounds against Ewing and have put the Bears on their back! Senior James Hamilton has quietly had a very good State playoff run and Senior Herbie Cabral and Senior Zeron Kahn are the glue guys in the backcourt! Junior Leonard Bollosa has been the catalyst off the bench and has gotten major minutes in crucial times of games! Paulsboro are led by their Senior trio of Brandon Hamilton, Theo Holloway and Saleem Little! Senior Deshaun Burgess is a solid guard and Junior John Pellegrini is a glue guy who makes things happen with his length! Sophomore Cherron Quarles has a tremendous future for Paulsboro!

Prediction:   Even though Paulsboro is the more experienced team, look for Bergenfield to keep the slipper on the foot and advance as the ride will continue! Bergenfield 70  Paulsboro 64

Paterson Eastside vs Newark Tech– Paterson Eastside and Newark Tech should be an up and down affair with Eastside at times trying to change the tempo! Both teams have talented and skilled players! Senior Shakur Juiston is a player that can dom008inate a game with out putting up big point totals! He is one of the best rebounders and shot blockers in the State and is a great defensive player on and off the ball!  Senior Asem Johnson is perpetual motion who offensively never stops moving! He is adept at hitting big shots no matter what his game has been like! He doesn’t fear the moment! While these two are a given for the Ghost, they will live and die on the play of their backcourt! Sophomore Nhazir Smith has developed into one of the best point guards in the Northern New Jersey area and is putting the rest of the State on notice! Senior Aaryn Abrams is a 5’7 dynamo who fears nothing and is a consistent shooter from mid range and out and Sophomore Al-Jumu Johnson has been a pleasant surprise for Eastside late in the Season and Junior Marlon Ebanks can drain the three pointer! Senior Marquell Sheffield, Junior Terra Gatling, Senior Thankgod Okenwa and Junior Terrel Griffin are part of a deep front court as Eastside has a very deep bench! Newark Tech is led by their dynamic Junior guard Mustafa Lawrence who is a fearless ball player and stud Senior forward Jordan Zagadou who is very athletic on the wing and a double-double waiting to happen!Senior Walker Wilson is a strong post player who if he stays out of foul trouble can be a problem for the Ghosts! Sophomore Walter Byrd and Sophomore Adonis Ridley gives Newark Tech a three guard backcourt to start most games, but the important minutes usually are given to Senior Jurod Page and Senior C.J. Webb! Both can score the ball and are a threat the minute they get in the contest! Newark Tech’s record is very deceiving as they have played some of the best teams in the State, but on the other hand you sometimes don’t know what you gonna get! If it’s the A game this game may go down to the wire!

Prediction–While Newark Tech is a solid team they have a habit having let downs during portions of games! Eastside should take advantage of those times and pull off the win! Eastside 58   Newark Tech  50
