TEANECK GETS REVENGE ON HACKENSACK 59-42!
Teaneck,N.J….The stage is set for the eventual rubber match between Teaneck and Hackensack! Teaneck made that happen by making up for a blowout lost to Hackensack early in the year, beating them 59-42 in the rematch! In a game where Teaneck star guard Ja’Quaye James was held to 8 points Teaneck’s role players stepped up bigtime in this game! Senior NaDame Tucker(far right) came off the bench to score all 15 of his points in the second half and ignite the Highwaymen when Hackensack tried to make a comeback! Senior Aaron Sanchez also scored 15 points, with 10 coming in the first half and Senior Jayden Dawson(near right) added 13 points with 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots! James dished out 7 assists in a game where he did not shoot the ball well, so he was able to find teammates! Teaneck led from start to finish and withstood a couple of Comet runs! Senior Atiba Taylor made a “triple” to cut Teaneck’s lead to 41-34, but a “triple” from Junior Vernon Johnson put the lead back up to double digits and “triples by Sanchez and Dawson along with strong drives to the basket by Tucker kept Hackensack at bay! Taylor led Hackensack with 16 points as their big gun Senior BJ Saliba was held to 6 points in the contest! With Hackensack beating Teaneck thoroughly 74-47 in their first meeting the hope is for these two to somehow meet up again! Preferably in the Bergen County Jamboree!
Note: Congratulations to Teaneck Coach Jerome Smart who in getting the win got his 200th career Teaneck victory!
