THE WEEKEND: A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE!!

          The Weekend Highschool Showcase, an NCAA sanctioned event which will be at Montclair State in Montclair,N.J. is an innovative way to have Players seen by Top College Coaches in a more structured setting as Top Players will get out their AAU mode and back to a team concept. It has gone over well with the high school coaches who are participating in the event:

Event Coordinator Jimmy Salmon said,”Some kids never get the opportunity to be seen with their high school teams during the evaluation period. After running this event in August, I thought it would be special to give a different look for prospective recruits. Some kids only play 15s and 16s and never play against older prospects. Hopefully this will allow a new way to be seen”.

Hudson Catholic Coach Nick Mariniello,”It’s a great opportunity to play as a high school team in a summertime live event. Jimmy Salmon has done a great job putting together a fantastic field of elite high schools. I am excited to see how my team has progressed since seasons end”.

Roselle Cathoic Coach Dave Boff sees it as, “An opportunity to get most of our group together for the first time since June”.

Bergen Catholic Coach Billy Armstrong says,”Giving kids the opportunity to play with their high school teams during a live period in front of college coaches is a great thing for them.

St. Raymond HS (NY) Coach Jorge Lopez sees it as, “A time for our teams to continue to develop chemistry. It also gives our team an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of College Coaches. 

Pope John Coach Vince Johnson says,”It gives them exposure and the chance for guys to compete in a high school setting.

Arch Bishop Wood (PA) Coach John Mosco likes,”Having the Players play in front of College Coaches with their high school teams to show a different look to college coaches. 

Finally, The Patrick Schools Coach Chris Chavannes says.” It’s a great experience for all the kids to get exposure and the opportunity to be evaluated in a structured environment by College Coaches, Scouts and their Coaches.
