TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS: RANNEY AND BERGEN CATHOLIC TO MEET IN CHIP!
Toms River, N.J….. It has come down to one game for the T.O.C. title and at the end of the night, Bergen Catholic and The Ranney School are left standing and will meet Sunday 4pm at Rutgers Athletic Center!
BERGEN CATHOLIC 79 NEWARK EASTSIDE 75
In a tremendous contest, Bergen Catholic came back from a 51-44 deficit at the end of the 3rd quarter, outlasted a tough Newark Eastside team and pulled off a 79-75 win! Xavier commit Zach Freemantle(far right) was a warrior on the floor as he scored 36 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Bergen! B.C. went on a 9-0 run to take the lead for good 59-56 as St Peters University commit Doug Edert hit a “triple” that not only gave BC the lead, but was his 1,000th career point! Freshman Will Richardson(right) came off the bench and provided the spark that Bergen Catholic needed!Freemantle and Edert combined for 30 4th quarter points as Freemantle scored 18 of his 36 and Edert scored 12 of his 14 points! Edert also dished out 7 assists in the contest! Richardson added 12 pointsand 5 assists as B.C. had to overcome the tremendous play of Senior Anas Amos who scored 31 points, including 22 in the 1st half, dished out 4 assists with 3 steals and helped Newark Eastside lead by as much as 15 in the first half! He finished his career as one of the most decorated players in Newark’s Highschool Basketball lore! Senior James Paul scored 15 points for Eastside, Senior Nasir Johnson finished with 13 points and Junior Mikah Johnson finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds!
RANNEY SCHOOL 62 MOORESTOWN 40
After trailing 13-10 to end the 1st quarter The Ranney School outscored Moorestown 52-27 to coast to a 62-40 win! The Ranney School turned up the defensive pressure and Moorestown could never figure it out! Ranney held Moorestown to 1 point in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-14 lead at intermission! Villanova commit Bryan Antoine(far right) led Ranney with 16 points and Florida commit Scottie Lewis(right) added 14 points, 6 rebounds, outstanding defense and a couple highlight reel dunks! Sophomore Philip Wheeler added 10 points and Senior Ahmadu Sarnor chipped in 9 points with 5 assists! Senior Vinnie Caprarola led Moorestown with 12 points, while Senior Nick Cartwright-Atkins grabbed 10 rebounds!
