PLAYAZ SPRINGFLING: RENS, EXPRESSIONS AND PLAYAZ WIN “CHIPS”!!
Hoop Group Headquarters, Neptune.NJ…. The PlayazBasketballclub sponsored SpringFling tournament took place over the weekend with Saturday being “Chip” day! When the smoke cleared The Rens were the 17u champs, Expressions the 16u champs and The Playaz the 15u title holders!
SPRINGFLING 15U CHIP: THE PLAYAZ 15U 57 TEAM TAKEOVER BLACK 49 O.T.
In an exciting contest which had an abundance of talent on the floor The Playaz 15u got a late “triple from guard Marquis Nowell to send the game to overtime and took over the extra session to defeat Team Takeover Black 57-49! Ja’Quaye James was the catalyst for the Playaz up and down game as he scored 17 points and had a big Springfling tournament! He was the tournament MVP! Nowell had 16 points as he and James are small in stature but big in games! Justin Winston added 11 points and 7 rebounds, Tavon Jones scored 9 points with 9 rebounds and Jalen Carey added 8 points and 3 steals! Team Takeover was led by Brandon Slater with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Zach Phaffenberg with 7 points and 8 rebounds! Besides the Playaz members mentioned, the roster of the squad consists of Armoni Sexton who also had a strong tournament, Nigel Marshall, James Ellis and Juwan Crenshaw! Will be an interesting watch this spring!
SPRING FLING 17U CHIP: THE RENS 70 TEAM TAKEOVER 61
Rawle Alkins and Mustapha Heron led The Rens to a tough 70-61 win in the 17u Springfling Championship game! Alkins scored 24 points, getting it done from the outside and on the inside and Heron added 17 points! 16 year old Jose Alvarado scored all 6 of his points in the 2nd half during The Rens key run late in the game! Shaq Dobiti-Lobe led Takeover with 20 points and Jamaal David chipped in 11 points!
SPRINGFLING 16U CHIP: EXPRESSIONS 62 NEW ENGLAND PLAYAZ 44
Joe Kazperzack scored 12 points, Derek Ellis had 11 points and Sampson George added 10 points to pace the Expressions to a 62-44 win over the New England Playaz and win the 16u Springfling “Chip”!
