Hudson Catholic Coasts by Neptune In Hoop Group Tipoff Showcase 57- 40!

Seton Hall University………In a game that showcased the young talent of Hudson Catholic and led to a milestone for Coach Nick Mariniello, the Hawks cruised passed a good Neptune Highschool team 57-40 in the Hoop Group Tipoff Showcase! Sophomore point guard Kavon Stewart(pictured with Hoop group directors Marquis Webb and Rob Engemann) took home the game M.V.P. by scoring 21 points as he was continually able to get in the lane enough to get 11 of his points from the free throw line! 6’7 Sophomore Reggie Cameron didn’t have his usual sharp shooting stroke, but put numbers up in the stat box getting a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds not to mention 6 assists, 3 steals and a blocked shot! 6’3 Sophomore forward Raekwon Kelly added 10 points and 6 rebounds for the Hawks! It  also was a milestone game for Coach Mariniello as he recorded his 200th win 2 games into his 11th year of coaching, spending the first 9 at Bloomfield Tech! The coaches record is now a healthy 200 wins with only 58 losses! The win gave Hudson Catholic a 2-0 record to start the season! Junior point guard Ikie Calderone led Neptune with 14 points !

St. Anthony’s Tops a Game Gill St. Bernard Squad 62-50!

Seton Hall University……..Junior Kyle Anderson(pictured) scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Senior Myles Mack 17 points, 4 assists and 3 steals to lead St. Anthony’s to a 62-50 win against an upset minded Gill St. Bernards team in the Hoop Group Tipoff Showcase! The Friars had to overcome a “three fest” as Sophomore guard Jaren Sina and Junior guard Alex Mottola combined for 11 “triples” in the contest! The Knights had a one point lead in the 1st quarter 17-16, but Anthony’s slowly took the lead by the half 35-30! The Friars began to slow down the scoring of Sina and Mottolain the 2nd half while taking over the boards behind Anderson, Jerome Frink(8rebs.) and Lucious Jones(7rebs)! A key to the contest was 6’7 Junior Dom Hoffman picking up his 3rd foul in the 1st quarter which took away any low post presence for Gill St. Bernards! Sina finished with 22 points, while Mottola added 19! 

St. Benedicts Outlasts St. Raymonds 67-62!

Seton Hall University……..Senior Vaughn Gray scored 18 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and handed out 4 dimes to lead St. Benedicts to a tough 67-62 win over New York’s St. Raymond Ravens! Gray(pictured with hoop group directors), a transfer from Don Bosco Prep and a George Mason commit showed an explosive first step throughout the game and got help from Senior forward Tyler Harris(N.C. State commit) with 16 points and Sophomore Mike Young who also scored 16!  St. Raymond’s Junior 6’6 forward Daniel Dingle was a beast down low scoring 23 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, while Junior Nkereuwm Okoro had 10 points,6 rebounds and 3 steals and Sophomore Shane Rector who scored 15 points!
