BERGEN COUNTY JAMBOREE: Teaneck And Don Bosco Prep Meet In Final!
Ramapo College, Mahwah, N.J…… In the Bergen County Jamboree Tournament Don Bosco Prep and Teaneck won their games and will meet in the final Thursday at Ramapo College:
DON BOSCO PREP 76 HACKENSACK 59
Don Bosco Prep Senior Leonte Carroo(bottom), the Rutgers commit for football and quite possibly the best athlete in the area was on the basketball floor and was a big problem for Hackensack! The 6’1 forward worked the boards hard and his offensive rebounding gave the Comets fits! Carroo scored 22 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, with 10 on the offensive end as Don Bosco Prep beat Hackensack 76-59! Prep’s three guard backcourt also played well as Senior’s Jemal Mosley(left) and Paddy Quinn(right) and Sophomore Paul Jorgenson(center) were instrumental in keeping the pace controlled enough to withstand the Comets defensive pressure! The game was closer than the final score indicated even though Hackensack never lead! Prep started the game making their first 7 shots and finished the quarter 8 for 9 from the floor as they took a 23-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter! The Comets cut the lead to four twice at 39-35 and 41-37 in the 3rd, but Carroo each time got offensive put backs to give Prep some cushion! Mosley finished with 15 points, 4 dimes and 3 steals, Jorgenson finished with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals and Quinn scored 12 points! Hackensack’s most consistent player was Junior Jamiek Moore who scored 17 points with 7 rebounds! Junior Chris Myers added 15 points and Sophomore Rashard Figures who was the focal point of Prep’s defense had to work hard for his 13 points!
TEANECK 60 TENAFLY 36
Tenafly led 5-4 with 5:27 and then 9-8 with 58 seconds left in the 1st quarter and that was probably the best moments of the game for the Tigers as Teaneck won going away 60-36! Senior Chris Jones led the scoring with 19 points and Junior Shakir Lindsey was a show in itself as he scored 17 points, delivered 7 dimes and put on a dribbling display! Senior Siddiq Patterson was the defensive player of the game as he guarded Senior Chris Orozco who was 17 points away from scoring 2,000 points in his Highschool career! Patterson held Orozco to one field goal and 8 points in the game! Teaneck went into the half with a 32-15 lead and finished the 3rd quarter with a 49-24 advantage! No Tenafly player scored in double figures as they were led by Sophomore Marco Baratta with 9 points!
