Paterson, N.J…. Paterson Charter got it done this year! After losing in the North 1 Group 1 Sectional Championship last year, Charter came back with a vengeance this year by going 16-0 in it’s League, playing a tough out of conference schedule and reaching the Semifinals of the Passaic County Tournament! All of this prepared them for this year and it paid off as they defeated Cresskill 59-43 to earn it’s first North 1 Group 1 Sectional Championship in the school’s history! Senior Sadiki Miller scored 19 points and Senior Marquis Harris scored 18 points with 6 assists to lead Charter to it’s title! Charter took an 11-4 lead in the 1st quarter and maintained the lead the entire way, although Cresskill continued to fight and stay in the contest! Back to back “triples” by Harris and Miller gave charter a 38-29 lead in the 3rd quarter as they entered the 4th quarter leading 40-31! The first 3 minutes of the 4th Cresskill was held scoreless as Charter’s defense broke the game open with Senior Troy Medlock’s steal with 6:24 left giving them a 45-31 lead! Senior Kyle McGee led Cresskill with 14 points, while Senior Christian Radovitch added 11! Medlock finished with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals for Charter who will now meet University Wednesday at Bloomfield H.S.!

Paterson, N.J……In a North 1 Group 4 State Playoff #9 Seed Passaic outlasted # 8 Seed Eastside 60-52! Senior Tyreek Smith scored 15 points and hit two straight key”triples” in the 3rd quarter and Senior Cameron Sylvester added 14 points and went 7-8 from the line down the stretch to seal the win! Eastside trailed by as much as fifteen 35-20 and cut the lead to as little as 5 in the 4th but defensive plays by Christian Ortiz and Eduard Pierrot helped Passaic go on a 6-2 run late! Senior Josh Cash led Eastside with 18 points and Junior Levi Holton finished with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals!

KENNEDY 67 WEST ORANGE 50

Senior Deishon Harrison scored 21 points, Sophomore Jay’Quan Briggs added 13, Senior Mark Heber chipped in 12 and Senior Jalen Hargrove finished with 10 points as Kennedy finally took control of the game late in the 4th and pulled away to a 67-50 win over West Orange in a North 1 Group 4 Playoff game! Micah Moore led West Orange with 13 points and Gustav Hall added 12!

DEPAUL 80 ST. MARY 61

Senior Anthony Corbo scored 33 points, Senior John O’Reilly added 16 and Freshman Irv Watkins chipped in 14 as DePaul defeated St. Mary(Ruth.) 80-61 in a North Non-Public B Playoff game! Senior Robbie Phillips led St. Mary with 26 points!

Kean University Union, N.J…. The Patrick School had four players in double figures as they defeated Roselle Catholic 56-42 to win the Union County Championship! Senior Noah Farrakhan led the way with 15 points, Senior Samson Johnson added 13 points and Junior Adam Sanogo and Junior Jonathan Kuminga each chipped in 12 as Kuminga also dished out 7 assists and Sanogo added 11 rebounds! The Patrick School took a 42-32 lead at the end of the 3rd and never got threatened! Sophomore Corey Floyd Jr. led R.C. with 19 points and Freshman Simeon Wilcher added 12! Senior Cliff Omuruyi grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked 5 shots for Roselle!
