MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY FALLBALL QUARTERFINALS ACTION!

Kennedy H.S.,Paterson,N.J…. The Playaz Basketball Club and Paterson Recreation sponsored Monday and Wednesday FallBall Leagues are coming to an end as the Leagues got together for Quarterfinal games! Eight exciting games were played and we now have our Semifinalists from both Leagues! In the Monday League Quarterfinals games Christian Brothers Academy, St. Peters Prep, Newark Tech and Bergen Catholic all move on to the Semifinals! Senior Chima Ekekeugbor scored 14 points and Junior Connor Aldrich chipped in with 12 points as CBA blewout DePaul 66-32! Senior Juwaun Carter scored 14 points to lead DePaul! St. Peters Prep had to overcome a slow start and a tremendous shooting display by Omari Dill-Pettiford in beating North 13th St. 83-62! Sophomore Armaveer Singh(right) scored 24 points and Freshman Nate Pierre-Louis(top right) scored 21 for Prep as that offset the 38 point performance from Dill-Pettiford! Prep outscored North 13th St. 40-24 in the 2nd half for the win! Sophomore Mustafa Lawrence led Newark Tech with 12 points as they beat Pope John 40-33! Junior Damian Rance led Pope John with 21 points! Senior Brandon Johnson(left) scored 19 points and Junior Justin Salem added 13 points to lead Bergen Catholic to a close 60-57 win over Kennedy! Junior Javon Rawls scored 18 points, Sophomore Alphonso Gee scored 15 points and Junior Jeloni Morris finished with 13 points for Kennedy! CBA will now face Newark Tech, while, St. Peters Prep will go up against Bergen Catholic on Wednesday with the “Chip” the same night!

 

The Wednesday League Quarterfinal games had St. Benedict’s, Newark Eastside, St. Anthony’s and Teaneck moving on! St. Benedict’s opened up a close game behind the 2nd half shooting of Senior Kamar McKnight(right) in beating Roselle Catholic 46-33! Leading 23-22 at the end of the 1st half McKnight scored all of his 13 points in the 2nd stanza to help give Benedict’s the win! Junior Elijah Cain added 9 points for the winners! Sophomore Matt Bullock led Roselle Catholic with 8 points! Senior guard Akbar Hoffman(left) scored 16 points and Junior guard Ahmad Harrison finished with 13 points to lead Newark Eastside to a 47-37 win over Paterson Eastside! Junior Asem Johnson led Paterson Eastside with 14 points while Zaheem Beal added 10 points! Senior Tarin Smith scored 15 points, Boston U commit Cheddi Mosley scored 11 points and Junior Markis McDuffie added 10 points as St. anthony’s coasted past Gill St.Bernard 59-38! Sophomore Tyus Battle led Gill St. Bernard with 13 points! Junior Ceasar DeJesus scored 15 points and had the play of the night with a georgeous dunk over a defender and lead Teaneck to a 58-46 win over Hudson Catholic! Senior Myles McLeod and Freshman Leandre Washington each chipped in 10 points for Teaneck! Senior J.R. Lynch led Hudson Catholic with 12 points! That sets the matchups for Wednesday as St. Benedict’s against Teaneck and Newark Eastside facing St. Anthony’s, with the “Chip” to follow!
