TEANECK SHOCKED BY NEWARK EASTSIDE 39-35!
East Orange Campus, East Orange,N.J….. If someone was told Teaneck held a team to 39 points it would be a foregone conclusion that the Highwaymen had won! No one would believe that they Lost, but because they could only muster 35 points themselves they fell to Newark Eastside 39-35! Teaneck which had been a superior shooting team throughout the year could not make shots! They were so bad that they did not score in the 1st quarter falling behind 11-0! Senior Joel Hernandez who averages over 23 points a game was held to 5 points and fellow All-County player Shakir Lindsey was just as bad with 6 points! With their dynamic duo struggling Teaneck was in trouble the entire game! Senior Will Joyce(right) led Newark Eastside with 13 points and 8 reboundswhile Junior Akbar Hoffman chipped in 9 points with 3 steals! give Newark Eastside credit as they were up in the Teaneck players faces! Junior Ishmael Sonago scored 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds,while Junior Abdul Lewis grabbed a game high 10 rebounds! Teaneck was led by Senior Devaunte Locadia with 9 points and Senior Eddie Pena with 7 points! Newark Eastside will play Camden Sunday at Rutgers University!
WALDWICK FALLS TO DAYTON 36-32!
East Orange Campus, East Orange,N.J…. Senior Jared Clayton made two free throws with 40 seconds left in a 32 all tie and Senior Elijah Brown iced the game with two more free throws to give the final score of 36-32 as Dayton defeated Waldwick to win the Group 1 North”Chip”! Brown(right) led the scoring with 12 points and 9 rebounds! Senior Connor Walsh led the scoring for Waldwick with 12 points and Senior Doug Palmadessa scored 11! Dayton will face Point Pleasant Beach at Rutgers on Sunday!
ST.PETERS PREP BEAT SETON HALL PREP FOR NORTH NON-PUBLIC A “CHIP”!
Rutgers University, New Brunswick,NJ…. St. Peters University commit Trevis Wyche scored 25 points and Senior Sean Cummings added 16 points to lead St.Peters Prep to a North Non-Public A by defeating Seton Hall Prep! St. Pete’s had to overcome the play of freshman guard Temple Gibbs who scored 27 points and Princeton commit Spencer Wiesz who added 19! Seton Hall Prep led 20-7 at the end of the 1st quarter but St.Peters Prep came roaring back in the 2nd quarter outscoring Seton Hall Prep 25-7! Wyche went 12 for 16 from the foul line in the contest! St. Peters Prep will face St. Joe’s Metuchen Saturday!
