HUDSON CATHOLIC CONTROLS MARIST 61-39!
Jersey City,N.J…… Hudson Catholic 6’7 Sophomore Sammy Friday (pictured) had the toughest assignment of the night,which was to guard 6-10 Fordham commit Manny Suarez of Marist and keep him occupied! While Suarez wasn’t bad he was held in check by Friday! Not only did Friday hold Suarez to 12 points,but he scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked 4 shots to help the Hawks beat Marist 61-39! Georgetown commit Reggie Cameron led Hudson Catholic with 18 points, while Senior Kyle McLeggan finished with 15 and Robert Morris commit Kavon Stewart dished out 10 dimes! Hudson went on a 21-4 run to start the contest and never was behind! Suarez had 12 boards to go with his points! Senior point guard Jaron Smith led Marist with 15 points and 7 steals while Senior Tony White finished with 11!Tonight marked the debut of Senior Jared Hall, who transferred from Newark Tech to start the season
PASSAIC COUNTY TECH BEATS DEPAUL 64-59!

Wayne,NJ….. Passaic Tech went into hostile territory at DePaul and came away with a 64-59 victory! Senior Isaac Williams(pictured) scored 23 points to lead the Bulldogs as they kept a close lead most of the game, leading 47-38 to end the 3rd! DePaul finally tied it with 40 seconds, but a turnover and a couple buckets pulled it off for Tech! DePaul was led by Sanders Green with 24 points and Junior Juwuan Carter added 19!
DAY 2: DWIGHT MORROW BASKETBALL SHOWCASE: ST.JOSEPH, PASSAIC VALLEY AND ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST(LI.) ALL WIN!
Englewood,NJ….. In the second day of the Dwight Morrow Basketball Showcase St. Joseph, Passaic Valley and St. John The Baptist of Long Island ended up victorious!
PASSAIC VALLEY 64 CHRIST THE KING (NEWARK) 43
Junior Stefan Minic hit 7″triples” in scoring 27 points and 6’6 Sophomore Shawn Ulrich had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds as Passaic Valley defeated Christ the King of Newark 64- 43! Minic hit 5 of his treys in the 1st half as P.V. took a 42-22 lead into the half! Christ the King is a team made up of Sophomores and Freshmans who are working hard to get better! Freshman Yvens Monfleury was particularly good as he scored 23 points with 6 rebounds! He and Minic were players of the game for their particular teams!
ST. JOHNS THE BAPTIST(LONG ISLAND) 84 WOOD RIDGE 61
St. Johns The Baptist matched one of the highest scoring teams in New Jersey shot for shot and pulled away with a 84-61 win over Wood Ridge! Sophomore guard Tavon Ginyard made 5″triples” and scored 31 points on an assortment of shots! Senior guard Charles Joyner Jr. scored 17 points and 5 steals to help his backcourt mate create havoc for Wood Ridge!6’6 Junior Kyle Williams scored 13 points with 4 blocked shots and Senior Charles Lloyd scored 11 with 11 rebounds for St. Johns! The Blue Devils are usually a very good shooting team but could not consistently knock down shots in the contest as St. johns ended up taking a 45-25 halftime lead and although Wood Ridge cut it to 13 a few times could never get totally back in it! Senior Mike Gibney scored 15 points, Senior Gary Whritenour finished with 14 and Senior C.J Madalena scored 11 with 7 rebounds! Ginyard and Gibney were players of the game for their respective teams!
ST. JOSEPH 71 DWIGHT MORROW-ENGLEWOOD 62
When you play St. Joseph and it becomes a physical contest, 9 times out of 10 Joe’s is going to out play their opponent and in this case it’s exactly what happened!Senior Pat Mensah led St. Joe’s in scoring with 23 points, while Junior Mark Fossati who was voted North Jersey Defensive Player Of The Year in football scored 16 points with 7 rebounds! They were more physical than Englewood and it eventually wore them down!Junior Quai Jefferson added 10 points and 3 steals for St.Joe’s! Englewood got 17 points from Sophomore Sidney Dawkins and 10 points from Junior Nelson Goodwater! The game was close at the half with St. Joe’s up 35-32! But the game became more of a St. Joe’s type game in the 2nd half and they slowly began to take control, moving out to a 51-42 lead at the end of the 3rd! Mensah and Dawkins were players of the game for their respective teams!
