Lennon’s Free Throws Lead Passaic Valley To 46-41 Win Over Passaic County Tech!
Little Falls,N.J……. Senior Jamir Lennon went 4 for 4 from the free throw line down the stretch as Passaic Valley beat Passaic County Tech 46-41! After Aazaad Hinton tied the game at 39 with 3:10 left, both teams went cold shooting down the stretch, but Senior Olumide Onajide made a bucket and Lennon knocked down those free throws to seal the game! Lennon(right) was the game’s high scorer with 17 points! He also added 4 assists and 3 steals, while Onajide finished with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals! P.C.T. was led by Hinton with 14 points and Senior Shackquiel Scott who played with a mask due to a broken nose added 6 blocked shots!
Sammy Singletary: 1,000 Point Scorer!
Senior Sammy Singletary went into his game against Clifton needing 13 points to reach the 1,000 point plateau! Kennedy’s dynamic scorer did more than that as he scored 31 points in their 67-61 victory to reach and surpass the scoring mark with ease! Sammy still leads North Jersey in scoring at 23.7 a game! He will need to bring it as his Kennedy squad will meet crosstown rival Eastside in the Semifinals of the Passaic County Tournament! Hawthorne Christian Clinches League Championship!
Hawthorne, N.J…….. Hawthorne Christian struggled early in the game against Saddle River Day, but the 2nd half turned it as they pulled off a 53-44 win over Saddle River Day! the victory clinched the Freedom B League Championship for the Defenders! Down 30-26 at the half, Hawthorne Christian put on more defensive pressure and forced turnovers and got a hot hand out of Senior Nick Aust(right) who made 4″triples” and scored 17 points! Sophomore Alex Thomas scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and Senior Paul Little added 12 points and 9 boards! Sophomore Jake Hart added 5 steals and was the primary problem on defense for Saddle River Day! Hawthorne Christian continues to have a fairytale season and will try to keep it going this Saturday at the Passaic County Tournament Semifinals! Saddle River Day was led by Senior Dave Rosado with 18 points and 9 rebounds and Senior Kieran Smith with 7 points and 7 rebounds!
