The Keys To The Games: Paterson Catholic vs. DePaul Catholic 2:00pm
Paterson Catholic :…………..The best team in the area, if not the State, the U.S.A. Today’s #6 team in the country really just has to play a consistent game to make this easy. The size advantage will be hard for DePaul to offset and the talent level is far superior. 6’6 Senior Seton Hall recruit Fuquan Edwin(pictured) and 5’9 Junior guard Myles Mack leads this talented group.6’7 Sophomore Kyle Anderson has been steady all season and 6’9 Junior Derrick Randall is one of the best interior defenders in the State. The team usually goes as 6’5 Fordham recruit Jayon James plays. If he’s under control P.C. is virtually unstoppable. All this talent ,not to mention the athleticsm of 6’4 Senior Jermaine Peart, the defense of 5’9 junior guard Jahmir White, the physicalness of 6’6 senior Trevor Clemmings and the shooting of 6’6 freshman Reggie Cameron. It will take a tremendous effort to beat this squad!
DePaul :…………….This team gets the most out of it’s talent and the truth is that’s all a coach couldask for! DePaul is led by 6’2 Senior Matthew Miller(pictured) and 5’11 Senior Mike Minarik. 6’2 Sophomore Davon Jacobs is their steady player in the middle with an assortment of moves in the paint. 6’1 Freshman Joshua Marquez has been a great addition with his all out hustle and fearlessness. 6’3 Senior Keith Ford will try to hold his own down low coming off the bench. The key will be how 6’0 Senior guard Wally Sajime handles the pressure that Paterson Catholic is sure to put on him. This will be a tall task for DePaul but you can bet on one thing, this team will give P.C. all it’s got.
Keys To The Game: Kennedy H.S. vs. Wayne Valley 12:00pm
Kennedy H.S. :…………….Kennedy is led by one of the most prolific scorers in the State in 6’2 guard Shondell Stewart(pictured). He will have to be on his game for the Knights to get past Wayne Valley. Stewart will need help from 6’2 Junior Dayvon Lighty who can get extremely hot and 5’10 Junior guard Zahir Young, who’s not only a great distributor but a lock down defender. 6’0 Sophomore Sammy Singletary will provide energy and anything else the Knights may need. 6’4 Senior Jaemille Barnes has been the biggest surprise of the season and Kennedy will need his ferociousness on the boards. The question will be if 5’10 Senior Daquere Hayes, who has been out due to a fainting spell back in January, will be cleared to play. His leadership has been missed. Will be a game time decision.
Wayne Valley :…………….. As always Wayne Valley will go as far as 5’9 Senior guard Jason Rosenberg(pictured) will take them. The dynamic point guard will have to deal with the pressure that Kennedy will throw at him. If he can handle it he can look for two knock down shooters in 6’2 Senior Nick Siljee and 5’10 Junior Tom Larranaga. 6’3 Senior Keith Greve, 6’3 Junior Andrew Herasimtschuk and 6’2 Senior Mark Tucker will be providing the defense and rebounding for Valley. The question mark for Wayne Valley will be the lack of depth that they have and will their core players keep from getting to winded. If so this game is up for grabs.
Bergen County Jamboree Tournament
Keys To The Game : Don Bosco Prep vs. Bergen Catholic 4:00pm
Don Bosco Prep :………….. 6’4 Junior Vaughn Gray(pictured) will be the key to whether Prep will be moving on to the finals. The kid is a stud and must play like that against a physical Bergen Catholic team. Gray will be looking for help from 6’2 Junior Gary Nova and 6’8 Sophomore Mike Tobey. Prep has been getting exceptional play from their two Sophomore’s, 6’0 Jemal Mosley and 6’0 Leonte Caroo and 6’3 Junior Selwyn Maxwell aso has provided strong defense and energy. Prep got a boost when Sophomore guard Yuri Wright returned to the team last week and contributed right away.
Bergen Catholic :…………… Bergen will try to use their physicality to beat Prep. 6’4 Junior Mark Richards(pictured) is the Crusaders go to guy and when he gets it going he opens it up for 6’2 Junior Eric Flanagan, 6’3 Junior Maurice Grant and 5’10 Senior guard Sean McGuire. 6’1 Senior Doug Rigg and 6’3 Junior Zach Sparber provide most of the strength down low. Bergen Catholic has gotten very strong play from Sophomore guard Charles Wingate over the last month.
Keys To The Game : Paramus Catholic H.S. vs. St. Joseph Regional H.S. 7:00pm
Paramus Catholic :…………….. 6’1 Senior Andre Blackwood(pictured) and 6’8 Junior Justin Harris are future college players and they will have to lead a deep Paramus Catholic team. 6’2 Junior Manny Hernandez and 5’6 Senior Brandon Perez will provide the depth at the point guard spot, while 6’0 Senior Eddie Johnson and 6’0 Senior Jordan Wade will be the primary defenders against St. Joe’s perimeter shooters. 6’3 Senior Aiden Collins and 6’3 Senior Johnberry Badio will be helping Harris out in the paint. Finding the right rotation at the right time will be the key to this game as P.C. has more than enough talent to win this game.
St. Joseph Regional H.S. :………………….Probably the best defensive team in Northern New Jersey, St. Joe’s likes to make the game grimey and they’re at their best when playing this way. 6’3 Senior Tony Efese(pictured) has been leading Joe’s most of the season. His quickness and jumping ability makes him a very hard guard. When 6’1 Senior Kai Dominguez gets it going from the outside they have one of the best inside out tandems in the area. 6’2 Greg Torchon provides rebounding and a nice medium range jumper. 5’11 Senior guard Alex Aitkens and 5’9 Senior Mike Marchman are two veteran players who have been through tough games before. 6’0 Junior Iyoha Agho provides extra scoring off the bench.
Teaneck Beats Don Bosco Prep In Triple O.T. 88-83
Ramsey……… Owen Barnes(pictured) 25 points and Kyle Steinbergin’s 19, including 5 treys gave Teaneck H.S. a 88-83 triple overtime victory over Don Bosco Prep. The Highwaymen overcame a 31 point effort by junior Vaughn Gray as he led Prep throughout. Sophomore Jemal Mosley added 13 for Prep. Senior Jonathan Blue scored 17 points for Teaneck.
