Crosgile Sets Record!
A late third quarter basket became the most significant shot of Justin Crosgile’s highschool career. That’s because it made the St. Joseph University recruit the alltime leading scorer in Depaul Highschool history. Crosgile broke the 34 year record of Keith Ellwood, who played at the University Of New Hampshire and set the record with 1,476 points in 1975. Justin finished the game with 1,479 career points in a 60-59 loss to White Plains.
Eastside Survives Paramus Catholic 69-66
Paramus Catholic gave Eastside all it could handle and more in their N.N.J.I.L. contest, but the experience and clutch play of seniors Karon Abraham and David West Robertson proved to be the difference. Abraham pumped in 27 points and added 4 assists and Robertson scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals and made the go ahead runner with 6.9 seconds on the clock. Paramus Catholic (4-2) is a young team that is growing and maturing at a rapid pace. Led by junior Andre Blackwood and sophomore‘s Justin Harris (17 pts., 13 rebs.,2blks.) and Manny Hernandez (7 pts.,4 assts., 4 stls.), the Paladins have a bright future. Eastside (2-4) got a much needed 2nd straight win after losing their first four games. The play of guard Bryant Lewis (12 pts.,2 assts., 4 stls.) was the extra gun in the second half.He scored all his points in the half and added the third threat when Abraham and Robertson slowed down in the third quarter. With Eastside up 11 with 6:07 in the fourth, Paramus Catholic made a charge and cut it to one at 63-62 with 2:29 on the clock. After two free throws by Abraham and a put back by P.C.’s Eric Brooks made it 65-64 Eastside, P.C. took the lead with 38 seconds left on a short bucket from Harris , off an assist from Blackwood. It set the stage for Robertson, who penetrated to the right side and made a running one hander on the baseline to give Eastside the lead 67-66. After a P.C. turnover, Robertson was fouled and sealed it with two free throws.
