Seton Hall Prep routs DePaul 60-38
Ashton Gibbs showed everyone in the gym why he’s headed to The University Of Pittsburgh by putting on a clinic against Depaul Catholic thursday night in rout to a relatively easy 60-38 win. Gibbs set the tone early by scoring 8 of the first 11 points of the game, including two 3’s to put Prep up 11-2 before a time out. It basically was over then. Gibbs scored 18 in the first half and finished with 28 points,8 rebounds and 5 steals and it seemed if they needed more he would have been able to give it. Depaul was hampered by their own star player Justin Crosgile, who missed the last 4 games due to an ankle sprain. He gutted it out, but had no real lift on his shot and had a limp throughout the game. He finished with 13 points and 3 steals, while sophomore Shakim Phillips was the only other Depaul player to reach double figures with 12 points to go with 7 rebounds. Eastside Moves On 71-55
Eastside may be peaking at just the right time. Led by the guard play of Karon Abraham and Bryant Lewis the Ghosts controlled an entertaining game who’s final score was not indicative of how close the contest was. Whenever a play was needed Abraham or Lewis provided. Both players scored 20 points while Abraham added 3assists,2 steals and a blocked shot and Lewis contributed 6 rebounds and 3 steals. St. Joseph Advances 49-46
St.Joseph Highschool of Montvale used their experience to out duel an inexperience, but determined St. Peters Prep team 49-46 to advance to the state quarterfinals of the Non public A against third ranked Pope John. Kai Dominguez led St. Joe’s with 12 points while Marvin Fulmore(10pts),Hakeem Williams (9pts 3stls) and Joe Efese(8pts) all contributed to a team effort on both ends of the floor. 6’7 freshman Keith Lumpkin showed signs of why he has such a big upside in alot of people’s minds. Although he has played better,he finished with 8 points 7rebounds and 5blocked shots.
